Currently, the coffee industry in Rwanda is at its peak and producing exceptional coffees. The road has clearly not been easy, but through the leadership of a commited government, educational projects and strategic planning, they have laid the solid foundation for this success. At the heart of Muhororo’s operations, over 200 local households bring their freshly picked coffee cherries to the washing station. Each lot of cherries undergoes a careful process: first, they are meticulously pulped, then fermented for 12 to 14 hours, and finally washed to remove any residual mucilage. After washing, the beans are laid out on raised beds to dry in the sun for 12 to 15 days.
This coffee offers a classic washed profile with a lot of citrusy acidity, some peach and apricot sweetness and a hint of black tea in the aftertaste. I would really recommend this one to all who enjoy washed coffees, because taste profile offers a lot of fruitiness on one hand and clarity and clean notes on the other. Amazing as filter and espresso ( i tried 1:4 ratio and it was delicious).
